IEC 62443 is not one document; it is a family of requirements for asset owners, service providers, and product suppliers.
Assets with similar security needs are placed in Zones, and controlled communication between them uses Conduits.
A sound path begins with scope, assets and data flows, risk analysis, target-state design, and phased implementation.
The target Security Level for each Zone must follow its own risk and consequence analysis; one uniform level for an entire industrial site is rarely economical or defensible.
A sound IEC 62443 outcome is more than a compliance table. Zones and Conduits, system security requirements, responsibilities, and acceptance evidence must support procurement through maintenance.
